About The Work

Physical & Emotional Landscapes

My work is inspired by the textures of the physical world around me, and the layered worlds within me: layers of meaning, stories, histories, perceptions, and truths. Landscapes, both physical and emotional, mark where we have been, where we are, and signal where we are headed. It is these landscapes that I translate into line, hue, and texture. I seek to capture the essence of feelings and places with passion, creating landscapes that are abstracted to become symbolic and universal. They embody a feeling, a story, a memory, a wish, a future encounter, a hill, a worn wooden floor, a shared dream, an individual reality; layers of what is seen, what is felt, what is missing.
